Where The Great North Winds Blow
I aim to invite the viewer to read my paintings from within their own memories of the sea and coastline.”
“It is the transient nature of the sea and coastline that compels and fuels my painting. I want to develop a celebration of seascape, both in atmosphere and dynamics.”
“To convey to the viewer the essence of landscape, I work on preparatory drawings in charcoal and complete my oil paintings on canvas. Normal and aerial views are investigated, and a tachism technique is used to develop the atmosphere of each scene. Recently, the Solway Firth has been my specific area of study. This area has its own peculiar properties, which have generated a living tapestry. I aim to invite the viewer to read my paintings from within their own memories of sea and coastline, and read my paintings from within their own experiences.”
